Interesting Type treatments

j_polo9

Hey i'm just looking for a list of interesting type treatments. anything from logos/posters/print work/etc.

I really like Si Scott: http://www.siscott.co.uk/
and Hydro 74: http://www.hydro74.com/

Those are probably the two best examples that I have. I am looking mainly for ideas for type treatments for a shirt I am making for the team that I coach. Any websites/images/books that have similar inspiration would be great. Thanks!

Los Logos contains some similar treatments to hydro74

If you go to the script style at Letterhead, click on each individual font in that section and you get some nice images made with that font:

ahh thanks los logos has been on my book list for a while. Any online resources or books devoted more to type than logos?

@fontplayer:
Actually I think the type treatments on their home page are more of what I am looking for. Edit: ahh I see you have to go to script then click on the individual fonts to get the different treatments. Though these are a bit more basic treatments like the ones in The logo font and lettering bible. Basic drop shadows and gradients, etc.

I think I need to look for illustrators who do type to find the more interesting type treatments. Thanks!

Misprinted Type is quite simular to Fontplayers suggestion, with some quite cool type specimen pages for each font. http://www.misprintedtype.com

Four Minutes to Midnight (2356) has some great magazine spreads using different fonts and layouts to communicate the context of dialog printed. Not sure if thats the kind of treatment your after however. http://lokidesign.net/2356/

For more magazine spreads I dont think you can go past Peter Maybury, He has some beautiful typographic spreads, particularly his work on Code magazine is most impressive. http://www.softsleeper.com

sweet, thanks kirk!

The folks over at non-format have some decent type treatments

i love these type treatmeants:

ahh non-format and the head of state has some great stuff!

Do Si Scott and non-format work togethar? They both list the Cash Anchor packagin on their portfolio lol. So either one of them is lying or the one works with/for the other.

Sii Scott was brought in to do the type for them, as stated on the non-format site. :)

ahh thanks! Here are some more of si scott's works btw:

good thread to add to this discussion as well.

www.33rpmdesign.com have some interesting type treatments in their portfolio. be aware, at the top of each portfolio-section, you have small numbers to access more work. i like this one.

Wow... I'm not sure if I'm going to look on Si Scott as a hero, or someone so good he makes me want to just give up on ever doing anything cool...

While I admire Si Scott's work I suspect that his style will have to evolve soon.
