(x) Natwest corporate face - proprietary face by David Freda Quay Design and Sack {Rainer}

adriano

It has been a while that I don't use typophile board of excellence :P. I'm seeing this font everywhere (Natwest Bank communication in London, and in Portugal it's also getting used a lot). Can anyone ID it?

thanks in advance

This is custom, see here: http://typophile.com/node/8705

EDIT: And I see you already know this...

some info about the NatWest font from typo-l

Around 2 years ago, David Quay and Freda Sack Design were commissioned by NatWest (via Wolff Olins) to design the new corporate identity typefaces for NatWest UK.

The brief was to produce a face which was friendly and welcoming; modern yet retaining some stature. The type designs had to work in a range of media. The distinctive designs should help say "NatWest" wherever they are seen. As such they have now become an integral part of how the NatWest brand is presented to consumers.

David Quay & Freda Sack have recently been asked to complete the character set and help to improve the font's readability on screen media.

The faces are NatWest copyright and are jealously guarded.

Thanks Renko & a.a.s.

Funny that I even found an alternative back then :|. If it's jealously guarded something went very wrong cause I see it everywhere :P

America Sans has some similarities if you mean that. Mix some features from a Rotis Sans in there and you'll get in the right direction.

NOT SO FAST!

That ugly ugly ugly typeface used to set "penela" in the sample shown above is indeed "Amerika Sans", apparently designed by a retarded monkey, and NOT the corporate typeface designed by The Foundry for NatWest.

Funny that Renko jumped to the wrong conclusion, and then came back with the correct font. Poor guy probably didn't sleep browsing the crappy font sites trying to find the actual font...

hahaha, yes, grumpy, you are right again. I was tricked by the Natwest-hint. We talked about the NatWest-font on other forums, so I remembered that and didn't check. Good eye, Mr. Grumpy.

NOT SO FAST!

Grumpy, I certainly don't mind you having an opinion about type -- heck, I certainly have one -- but there really is no need to be calling anyone names, so ease up on the "retarded monkey" mud slinging. Please try to stay relevant.

Well spotted BTW, I will correct the credit at one.

For what it's worth, I agree, although there is the possibility that Grumpy is really Fred.
; )
Seriously, I can see why Grumpy wouldn't want to use his real name. He wouldn't have the courage to say something like that otherwise. I don't have any use for people like that.
