Here's a pretty sad example from the streets of LA:

"Anyone who would steal Souvenir would letterspace sheep... the pervert."

The backward "i" is especially effective, as is the stunning way the type seems to "dance" across the sign.

(There is no hope for humanity, is there?)

DT

:-)

What that particular donut shop needs is the *font* police...

hhp

This reminds me of those shops that open up in a former 7-Eleven space, and rename it to something like 7th Heaven- this way they only have to buy a few characters from the signmaker, who probably charges by the letter.

Yeah, "franchise parasites": usually they just pay for the rights for a year, then once they have a customer base they save money by dumping the franchise and just changing some signs. Or sometimes not even: I remember a Tony Roma's on Cayman Islands that was no longer a Tony Roma's, except it still said so... And in Beirut there's *two* Hard Rock Cafes, but only one of them is the real thing - except you can't tell which!

BTW, I think for Michelle's it was the donut cook who redid the signage...

Using letters made from donuts? :) (Actually, that might have looked better....)

DT

So...what *is* that? An unitalics?
