I really like those links you have for coporate identity guidelines.
Do you have the password for the .SIT files?

I thought Charter Oak, but that's not right

You beat me to it Patty.

It looks like they were using Rotis in 1998 as seen in this PDF which also has a good showing of the modern logo, which seems to be based on this style.

It could go back a way, pre-digital, possibly custom.

WOW!

thanks for all the help. i really appreciate it.

Grandecort's T and E have serifs, but the old SAS face is a sans all the way.
You can see a longer sample of the SAS face here.

thanks again.

"The SAS logo was designed in 1947 by Rune Monö and modified in 1998 by Stockholm Design Lab.

The colour is blue (Pantone 2738). Additional colours are silver (Pantone 877), dark grey (Pantone Warm Gray 9), grey (Pantone Warm Gray 5), light grey (Pantone Warm Gray 1) and red (Pantone 172).

SAS uses its proprietary typeface Scandinavian, designed by Stockholm Design Lab."

Interesting, tho, what's not on that site, like the oft-requested Gucci and Prada logos. Not corporate enough I guess.
