What happened to these guys...

Mike Diaz

Does anyone have info on either Thierry Puyfoulhoux of Présence or Ben Balvanz of Fontalicious. I love both of these designers work but their websites are dead... I emailed T26 to see if Ben was still alive but no response yet. I have a feeling the same for Thierry.

Any info would be most appreciated.

Mikey

Thierry Puyfoulhoux does seem to be alive and well at http://www.presencetypo.net/

Dax

Thierry is alive indeed. His fonts are also available from FontShop and MyFonts.

Ben is an open question. It looks to me like his fontalicious.com has been coopted by some ne'er-do-wells.

Okay... I got this link from a web archive that's bad.

Thanks Dax & Stephen Coles for the info on Thierry.

I'm bumming it on Ben though... he was my font hero.

Mikey

Have no fear font friends . . . Mr. Balvanz is alive and well and his work will again be available for purchase in the coming weeks . . .

Stuart :D

Thank you so much Stuart... what a relief!
Alba is like my favorite of all time... glad to hear he is okay and working.

Ben is one of only a few designers that really knows how to pump up the cuteness.

Be sure to post an announcement on Typophile to let everyone know his status!

BTW... I purchased the entire FontDiner collection not that long ago... and I'm luv'in it!!

Mikey

Thanks for the kind words Mikey . . . Glad to hear you're enjoying the fonts . . .

I will indeed be certain to post an announcement as details are available . . .

In the meantime, you can see his recent goings on at the tee shirt company he started called Fan Club Member - http://www.fanclubmember.com

Best,
Stuart :D

I have seen some of those t-shirts before and in the back of my mind I thought- fontalicious. I see the "Somebody loves me in Compton" t-shirts all the time in nightclubs n' such. I hope he is still making type or plans to release soon.

Thanks again,

Mikey

I miss Fontalicious :( It's lame now. I can find Ben Balvanz's work but not his witty commentary. Or even an e-mail address to send bikini pics.

If you absolutely need a place to send them… :)

Chris, your puns are taking atoll:)
Tim

Yeah, they're kind of a dragon…

LOL!!!

:-)

That's the spirit Tim and Paul!

ChrisL

…eanie meanie, chili beanie, the spirit is about to speak…

peace

Thanks Bullwinkle :-)

ChrisL

I got off to a rocky start but I'm slowly starting to feel it…

peace

That's OK, it took 4 movies to give Rocky a fighting chance. "Yo! Adrian."

At least you took the bull by the horns eventually :-)

ChrisL

Speaking of bull, your last post… :)

And everything I've so far spouted…

peace

};-P

ChrisL

Well, that thread bombed.

It was spyraling out of control anyway…

peace

Bang-up job of it too Paul.

ChrisL

Sometimes the fire works…

Sometimes it doesn't.

peace

Yikes... you guys are true geeks ;-)

Mikey

Guilty as charged Mikey :-)

ChrisL

Mikey - You have to aspire to something… :)

Not to mention that being called a true geek by someone who uses the word yikes is a badge of honor and a red flag all at the same time… :)

peace

Maybe I should have said "true geeks just like me".... :-P

Mikey

PS... Yes I did use Yikes but I could have used Jinkies and that would have been off the charts on the geek index.

It's off the charts that you even know that word… :)

It's a new one for me.

peace

hahahaha

I miss fontalicious, especially so for the kick ass screen savers. If anyone still has the Disco Hell screensaver (fontalicious satan doing a jig in the firey pits) I would appreciate if they could hook me up with it! I've been trying to replace it for years now.

see if this helps:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.fontalicious.com/

if you want fontalicious fonts, they're coming back better than ever at www.fontbros.com.

I tried archive.org awhile ago and got excited because I saw what I wanted, but clicking it did not work. :(
