i'll bite. ugliest laptop i've seen in a while. that includes dells.

star trek on crack

Dell is not nearly as bad as some others. And all of them used
to be much nicer. My Latitude from 6 years ago was an austere
dark gray warrior. The good news: I'm not going on any catwalks
with my laptop. Or even without it, come to think of it. But with
the $1000 I saved, I could afford a supermodel, for like 5 minutes.

hhp

It's time to pimp the laptop.

Amazing! How much effort goes into making major UGLY.

ChrisL

This reminds of those guys who buy Ford F-150's and install 10ft shocks then decal the sides with 'tribal' flames.

Major UGLY indeed.

Mikey

PS... yes the laptop is fast... but you won't be... it weighs 15 POUNDS!!! Its a laptank.

19” Wide Screen WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050

high res screen

Mike, I had the EXACT same thought. Some pimping is nice, too much pimping is compensation.

it's a brilliant pc laptop. with the Area-51 the only problem with it is the fan that is a bit loud. The OS is better than that toy they call OS-X and the Life rubbish. Play with toys buy a Mac, (and an I-Life) you want a tool get a Alien.

sissys who can't lift 15 pounds, need not apply.

If someone has to point out that it is not for sissies or for girls I wouldn't want it anyway. :^P

Well, the 19" is nice, but there's such a thing as too
much of a good thing, like when you're on a plane,
or when you spend 3 days walking in Leipzig.

Plus, at that size (and that price) you really should
be getting WUXGA. And really, the screen can't fully
justify the weight; my new 17" Dell is under 8 pounds.

hhp

This comes under the same bizarre logic as:

"Anyone can stop smoking but it takes a man to face cancer."

ChrisL

Which part is bizarre again?

hhp

The part where it says "sissys who can’t lift 15 pounds, need not apply"

ChrisL

If I was an early 80's rocker, and drove a van with planets, laser beams and unicorns airbrushed on the side, I might see the appeal of this design.

ha. ha ha . i love you guys...

"The Ultimate Gaming Machine"

and what's that about playing with toys?

Ken.... ahahaha good one.

Mikey

15 lbs, but that's probably with the optional sub-woofer, right?

Today I heard a old rock tune being blasted to distorion on their one inch laptop speakers as a supposedly "pump it up" prelude to a business presentation in my office. I made them turn it down. When I said it offended my sensibilities, they cluelessly asked me why.

As my wife says, "Some people's children..."
