(x) Kate Spade identity - ITC Baskerville {Hrant}

masonkessinger

Can anyone ID the typeface used in the Kate Spade logo?

www.katespade.com

Could you suggest potential alternatives that have the same feeling but may have subtly differently attibutes?

THANKS!

Wow at that size it's awfully hard to tell. It looks Caslon-ish but I wouldn't swear to that.

That must be Baskerville. Look at that sickly "a".
And that "k". Specifically ITC New Baskerville, I reckon.

I think Hrant has it. This page uses ITC New Baskerville.

Urggh... ITC New Baskerville blows. :^P

The nice folks at FontShop are giving away Baskerville Old Face, which is a little more refined and idiosyncratic.

What the man says -- Baskerville Old Face is a very nice and classy cut.

But it's based on what's called "Fry's Baskerville", a clone done
by a contemporary of JB, and quite different. Some people prefer
it for display setting, but to me that's mostly because revivers of
the authentic Baskerville have generally ignored optical scaling.

Oh definitely, Baskerville Old Face/Fry's Baskerville obviously is a display cut, not to be used in text sizes.
