(x) Neo2 Spanish fashion magazine - ITC Avant Garde Gothic (customised) {Geoff}

peter_monrad

Hey, I’ve come across this great alternative version of Avant Garde. The R is what stands out the most? What are we looking at?

More covers can be seen at http://www.neo2.es/ but it should be from #49 and down (chose in the right side)

I thinks that’s ITC Ronda for the “R”. I didn’t think those two fonts would mix well but they look great here. The magazine looks like nothing I would read though.

;-)

I think it’s a customised ITC Avant Garde Gothic.

* I just had a look at a bigger image, it’s definitely a custom ITC Avant Garde Gothic.

Du you have a link for the ITC Rhonda? Can’t find it on the itcfonts.com site

AH.. It was Ronda, not Rhonda.

But that’s not the font though. As you say the R is similar, but the P’s are also rounded in Ronda, which they aren’t in the sample, so it could be something customised (avant garde...) or something else?!

I fixed my lousy spelling. The Q on one of the covers is flipped upside down. I don’t think the R is customized. That leg of the R does not belong to Avant Garde.

Mikey

The P looks like standard stuff for Avant Garde. Maybe Yves or Stephen can tell us for sure if the R is Ronda or a custom Avant Garde.

:-)

Mikey

Customised ITC Avant Garde Gothic, the C, G and Q don’t lie.

Flipping the Q is an interesting and fun trick to achieve some kind of semi-connected O. Nice one. :^)

Definitely a customised ITC Avant Garde.

The guys from Ipsum Planet tend to design their own typefaces and then gradually give them away free randomly every few issues or so. I’ve a about 20 (of varying low quality) at this stage — misspent wages from my free-and-easy magazine buying when I lived in Barcelona.

I wouldn’t say they’ll give this one away too quickly though as they use it for their masthead etc.

Conor> That’s great info... tell us when that magazine has free fonts again so we can hunt them down!!!

Mikey

They used to give them away for free on their site. You now download them from the Neo2 website (go to “Club Downloads” at the bottom of the frontpage) using a code you get inside the magazine.

Their current issue (53) contains the code for a typeface called Canaletto.

I´ve tried to find Neo2 here in my country, but there´s any. Anyone could share the 53 issue code, plz ´cause the face RULEZZ!

Thanks in advance :)
