Old-fashioned greek lettering in shop displays in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece

gtrianta

In backpacker.gr, in the projects section, you can find examples of old-fashioned greek lettering as it appears in various shop displays in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. Most of the presented specimens, have been designed (probably) 40 to 50 years ago. A great source of inspiration for script or display greek fonts.

There is an ongoing effort to collect as many specimens as possible. The list of photos will be updated whenever it’s possible.

Thanks George, they’re brilliant, and as you say a great source of inspiration.

Thanks, it makes me hungry just looking at them - here’s a few signage pics we took there in 2002 for the ICTVC. Roll on ICTVC 2007!

You’re making me hungry. I miss the souvlaki joint on the Isthmus between Athens and Thessaloniki…

Thanks for the link.

Someone once said, when considering a conference “it’s the venue and the menu” and Thessaloniki has both!
