Old Goudy video clip

Baskerville

Here’s a great, old video clip I came across showing the process from drawing a character to creating a printed page from the resulting metal type.

It show Goudy’s studio. The clip looks a lot older than I think it may be:

enjoy!

Thats frikkin’ awesome. Seriously.
It’s at least before 1947.

That is amazing! Thanks for the link…

peace

Maurice Kellerman died 1943 according to IMDb so it ought to predate that year by a bit too.. i’d say it’s definitely from the 30s.

anyway, great video, thanks for sharing.

That really is wonderful. I’m glad Mark is doing what he can to organize information for us on the web.

Sidenote: Did anyone notice the st lig? Very nice. Usually people make the loop so bulbous it is distracting, but I think this one would blend nicely.

TDC has another clip in their library of a Goudy Home Movie.

We showed it while the band Odiorne http://tunneldays.com/ played at: “Typografia”

The silent Goudy film has interesting synchronicity when you play “Dark Side of the Moon” while watching.
