Impressive "New" Book.

Hrant H Papazian

“Type-one : discipline and progress in typography”, R Klanten et al., ed.

Well, it’s not really that new (it’s from 2004) which makes me wonder why I hadn’t heard anybody mention it before. One of my students brought it to class the other day, and it’s really a great collection of type design efforts - plus it’s very well-produced. A definite Buy Recommendation.

Just for reference - not a plug for Amazon:

It is, indeed, an excellent documentation of many experimental type projects. I recommend it to all the young designers in my department.

Most of the books I’ve seen from this publisher, Die Gestalten Verlag, are very high quality. I believe they published the Büro Destruct monographs as well.

Amazone advised me Type One by the “Customers who bought this item also bought…” function. I thought about buying it, so thanx that you advised it too! No I could be sure that its not a misinvestment :)

Off topic: Where are you teaching, Hrant!?

BTW, some time this week I’m going to
post a -very small- peek into the work
from last semester to that thread.

Does anybody know what the difference is between the 2004 and 2005 editions?

hhp

I have the 2004 edition, I believe the 2005 edition had a different (soft and not die-cut) cover not sure about the contents, there are some minor translation errors in the 2004 edition, but not significant enough to interfere with reading it. Love the mould font experiment.
