Wow. What's the designer and copyright info on those? I wonder if they made a deal with the prolific digitizer Dieter Steffmann.

Anybody has the list of the fonts available on this cd-rom?

Yes, they did. the book includes the most common blackletter fonts (fontshop, linotype etc.) and has 2 sections about more modern blackletter interpretations. When I'm back home I'll search after the list of the fonts on the cd.

jürgen siebert from http://www.fontblog.de has more pic of the book and a small making of for all german readers.

Oh! I want this book in the vendor area!

Can I purchase it in the States? I only see German on the link (or do they have ecommerce in English as well).

Sebilar

thx for the infos!

Ok, Jürgen Siebert of FontShop Germany has informed me that various foundries contributed fonts, but none are licensed elsewhere for a fee (at least not from FontShop). So it's not a CD of commercial fonts.

He has just made a PDF available showing all the fonts on the CD.

Thanks Stephen. You are so fast ... even in the middle of the night. No chance for me to announce my PDF myself ;-)
But I like to translate some of my German notes. All fonts are for Mac OS X and Windows, except Tannenberg (Windows Type 1 only). More than 95 % of the fonts carry the famous long s. The fonts seem to work well. I had a crash (Mac, InDesign CS 2, FontExpolrer X) when loading all 150 fonts and my PDF was nearly finished, but who the hell is working with 150 blackletter fonts simultaneously? Some of the fonts (10 - 15 %) are not embeddable. That makes my file huge, because I converted most of the showings to path. The PDF is 3.9 MB. Have fun ...

Good selection!
But, missing in this collection in the contemporary section, is the well endowed FF Karo :)

A keeper PDF! Thanks.

I just wish Sangue was not "unqualified" - it's my favorite.

BTW, I'm getting vibes that Frakt (581) is outline-derived from Fetter Fraktur.

I’ve reviewed the 2nd edition for Typographica.

Well written and thoroughly done, Florian. I must admit that I enjoyed the Modern display faces more than you seem to have. The term “porn bible style” is perfect! It takes the combination of religious uses and harsh modern Heavy Metal rock into combination.
Well done! Write more!

ChrisL

Thank you, Chris. Much appreciated. The ‘porn bible’ reference isn’t mine – I forgot who said that – but yes, it is quite to the point. And yes, I’ll try to write some more. Stay tuned.
