Mac FontLab Bitmap Import Coarse!

Hrant H Papazian

When I copy-paste a (1-bit) bitmap from Photoshop
to FontLab on Windows, I get a nice full-resolution
image in the background. But when I do the same on
OSX I get an extremely coarse image. What gives?

The image must be 72 dpi before you copy. Be sure to un-check “resample” in Photoshop before changing the resolution. (FWIW, I think this is a pointless limitation. It just makes for extra work and is counterintuitive.)

Strange. I didn’t realize a copy-pasted bitmap could
even have a dpi associated with it. I’ll try it - thanks!

Apparently, FL looks at the physical dimensions of the image (in inches, points, whatever) and converts it to 72 dpi before pasting. The only way to get all the pixels is to make the conversion yourself beforehand. It doesn’t make much sense, but that’s how it works.

Yup, it worked. Still strange though.
Thank you thank you.
