30's metal type

This is a bit from a Soviet propaganda publication from the 30's. Any ideas?

Helvetica it can't be, wasn't it designed in the '50s?

I can't think of an exact match, but I'd suggest you to
take a look at Grotesque MT and Bureau Grotesque 51,
(for some digital alternatives).

Helvetica in the 30s?

And the 'R' and 'C' don't look Helvetica to me...

and the letter "S" has a specific form, doesn't it?

Stalin Sans Pic?

Plain ol' Helvetica methinks.

Hmmm... not exactly. It's one of the grotesques that
preceded it and on which Helvetica is inspired. It's not
Akzidenz-Grotesk for sure.

I hear ya I hear ya get off my back!
