Recommendation on Sans serif with flaring! Suggestions?

Wei Heng

Hello all:

I am looking for a sans serif typeface, grotesque with flaring. Something that has more personality and comtemporary attitude compared to Helvetica, and legible as display.

my project is targeted toward a youth and young adult audience, so you get the idea

can you guys suggest me a list.

Thanks,

W (design student)

Oh yeah, If it's possible, if it can work with Quadraat serif, it would be great. This is what I have so far. I find the quadraat sans condensed too rigid. I am looking for a replacement for that. Anybody have suggestions? or is quadraat sans fine, the way it is?

How much flare? Futura Display has subtle hints of it.

I think slightly, but not comical. Do you know any other helvetica-like typefaces? Thanks

Brown Gothic (ShinnType) is most Helvetica-like with flare.
Also flared:
Magma (Stone Type Foundry)
Optima (Linotype)
Stella (Monotype)

Does it have to be a grot?
If not, I might look at Poppl Laudatio.
Oh, and what about an intermediate "style" of Adobe Penumbra?

Actually, I think Quadraat Sans is looking beautiful there, but big ups for Brown Gothic. Used it many times to good effect.

Amira (fontbureau) is a little more playful, or has more contrast at least.

I’ve got something in the making that i could show you, if you send me a note off-list.

i'm a bid fan of Dyna Grotesque (storm type).
it's legible, elegant... but has a lot of warmth and character. particularly in the italics.

Love this photos of your project with Quadraat! Do you have a link to your portfolio? Is this work there? Would love to see more on these!
