Swashed slab or soft serif type

bpoliva

Any suggestions for faces that could be cut and swashed, or include a subset of swashes - in the vain of cooper, belizio, fortune, volta, etc.

the general feel is small grocery store - organic - hometown and warm

also - anyone know the face used to set “Cheers” for the bar/ TV show

thx !

Sauna is probably up your alley.

What do you mean by “cut”?

Here is a good thread on type for organic foods: http://www.typophile.com/node/17373

yeah, sorry for my explanation - i just meant something that might be a nice base, and could be cut up from there a bit, to add custom swashing, etc. if need be ...

thx

I dunno...do you have any examples of typefaces that COULDN’T be swashed, if one were to use a little imagination (an ability which, I am told on good authority, I sadly lack)? Your follow-up isn’t a whole lot more helpful that your original question...

thx

Let me see if a comparison would help clear up my poor explanation ...

underware’s “bello” - it’s well suited for this i think, but i was trying to discover some comparable type

i also was interested in finding out what “cheers” ( for the TV show ) was set in - i believe i’ve seen it at fontshop ? but cannot remember the name

This is certainly hand drawn, but Candice is similar.

definately handdrawn, but i found what i thought it had been based on -

still looking for some suggestions for the other

much appreciated ...

If you are indeed goin’ for the smooth, warm, soft, slightly handmade look, you may like the lovely ’Los Feliz’, by Christian Schwartz, or the brandnew ’Manifest Destiny’, by Jack Usine.
