Typeface recommendation.

kris

Hi

I have been racking my brains over this one, but can’t come to any conclusions. I need to license a text typeface for a company that facilitates tax pooling transactions. As the transactions will be web based, I feel that it needs to be clean, serious and contemporary but not too bland and lifeless. I am thinking sans, but will not rule out a serif. The typeface will be used for printed collateral and possibly a little bit for screen, but not at tiny resolutions. Any suggestions will be gratefully received!

Kris.

Confused:

1. Transactions will be web based.
2. Typeface will be used for printed collateral, little bit on screen.

Help.

Sorry, I am trying not to reveal more than I think is decent!

We are branding a company that facilitates tax-pooling. They will have a web-site that their clients will use for tax-pooling transactions. The company needs afformentioned web-site and print collateral branded. We need a typeface to use for the printed collateral, and possibly the web-site.

Hope that clarifies the situation!

Who is the audience?

The audience is primarily corporate accountants.

Courier then. (joking)

Some distinctive/underused, clean, modern typefaces with good numerals:

FF Unit
FF Zwo
FF Daxline
FF Strada
Freight Sans
Amplitude
Klavika
Monitor
Vista Sans (not the Swash Alts)
Whitney

Sorry Stephen, these really aren’t quite there :(

Unit is too blah, Zwo is too, I hate Daxline, Freight Micro is great but not the sans, Amplitude hasn’t any italics, Klavika is slightly too mechanical, Monitor is too square, Vista too organic and Whitney too generic.

They are all great suggestions, however. Strada is really interesting, however. It may be slightly too organic for this, but it has shot to the top of my “must get” list never-the-less!

Any others?

(Did you consider other faces from the foundries Stephen already mentioned, like Sansa from OurType or Locator from Process Type Foundry?)

Kris,

Stalemate was made especially to work for both print and web. See for yourself;

Let me know if you have further questions regarding Stalemate?!

Wow, thanks guys!

Marc: I have considered all of these, and the other ones offered by the foundries mentioned by Stephen.

Stefan: thanks for the suggestion of Stalemate, unfortunately it is not quite right, but we are definately keeping it in mind for future projects!

Stephen: We had another, closer look at FF Strada, and it is probably the one we will go with. My business partner was an excellent second set of eyes, and we are both very excited about the prospect of using it! How it has escaped my eyes thus far is annoying…

Once again, thanks!
