Converting OpenType to AAT; Replacing mark-to-xxx?

nickshanks

Hi there. I’m converting an OpenType Indic‐script font to AAT, which uses mark‐to‐base and mark‐to‐mark positioning (I think) and I was wondering if there was an easy way to use these positing data when generating AAT tables? I’m rather a novice at this so any help along these lines would be appreciated.

Thanks,
– Nicholas.

Huh, what’s the Armenian lc “ra” character
doing there in place of the hyphen?! :-)

umm, no idea. does your web browser support UTF-8?

It’s the latest version of Firefox (on Win-XP),
so I’d think so! In fact would an Armenian
letter show up if it didn’t?

Here’s a grab of what I’m seeing:

You know what’s really spooky? In my old custom Armenian
8-bit encoding (which of course couldn’t possibly have any
role here) the ra is mapped to the... hyphen!!

That is strange?! I am seeing the hyphen on my Mac OSX Tiger Safari. Here is screen dump:

Well this is all very well, but it doesn’t really answer my question! :-)

The character is U+2010 HYPHEN, which is mapped to the key between zero and equals.

Nick, if you contact me off-Typophile, I can put you in touch with an experienced AAT developer who should be able to answer your question. Write to me at tiro[at]tiro[dot]com
