A similar alternate may be almost any common, condensed sans serif.. :)
( Some examples.: ‘Alternate Gothic’, ‘News Gothic’ / ‘Trade Gothic’, ‘Noga’.. )

But, Sure, There could as well be custom types for stitching machines..

Franklin Gothic

formlos, your suggestions are great. pattyfab, i looked at franklin but the curved letters, like o, s, c, etc. are elliptical, while I was looking for the flat sided style like on the patch.
