Does anybody know where to find samples of the four fonts*
made by Willy Wiegand, in the first half of the 20th century?
* A Bible, something called "Latin/Roman", a Greek and a Liturgica.

try your luck at ZVAB.com and search for "Bremer Presse".
A good book about the historie of the Bremer Presse is:
Die Bremer Presse, Königin der deutschen Pressen, 1964 Typographische Gesellschaft München
But its a bit pricey!
The Bibelschrift is available at moorstation.
I like the Antiqua and the Greek, of course a bit plumb and dark, but something differend for its time.
BTW, all his typefaces are cutted by Louis Hoell. I thing his influence is a last 50%.

Wow, great! Thanks.
And UCLA even has that book you mention, so I can get it gratis.
BTW, do you know anything about this?:
"Die Bremer Hochschulreform und die Presse: eine Analyse d.
Berichterstattung 1970-1971" by Hans-Detlef Griesche, 1974.
> Hoell
That name is familiar. What else did he cut?
hhp
Louis Hoell 1860-1935
He cut also all typefaces for P. Behrens, F.H. Ehmcke and E.R.Weiss. In this context he worked for or with the foundries Klingspor and Bauer/Flinsch.
The second book you found has nothing to do with the "Bremer Presse".

So it's been over a year already?! Scary.
One of my students* is considering digitizing the Latin/Roman font cut by Hoell for Bremer. He says it's unlikely to go further than his own hard drive, but we agree that it might still be useful to research the rights situation (even though the design is over 80 years old) and/or find out if anybody has already digitized it. If things turn out to be sufficiently accomodating I'd like to encourage him to eventually release it, since it's a lustrous rara avis of a typeface.

Any ideas?
