Estimated Symbol

Hi All,

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the European Estimated Symbol (the little 'e')? (I'm aware it's easy to get on the PC but I'm only on Mac) and I can get it on my Mac OSX system i.e. in TextEdit, but the symbol won't appear in Illustrator or Quark; ideally I need to get the symbol as outline in a vector EPS format.

Does anyone know where I can get one from? I've Googled it and it's not proved helpful... I'm tearing out my hair on this one!

Thanks,

Si

Si, just copy this - ℮ - and paste it in your doc in Lucida Grande.

...or draw this in your favorite vector-graphics program (it's pretty elementary).

This link could be helpfull for you:

Thanks Guys! I'm wowed at the response!

Chester - I was just writing to say it didn't work (Quark). Then I thought, let's see about Illustrator and it's sorted. Nice work fella!

Thanks Nick and Sim - the link was helpful, btw!

Cheers - problem solved!

Si, it was destined not to work in QuarkXPress because QuarkXPress only speaks 8-bit. With any luck QuarkXPress version 7 - due for release a couple of months ago - will understand OpenType fonts in the way that Illustrator does.

Gotta love that Quark production schedule, they put out a new rev every five years like clockwork :-)

Yes, like one of those grandfather clocks which you have to wind by hand, but you forget, and then you go on holiday, and...

Chester, that would be a coo-coo clock? Nah, they were not as belligerent as Quark :-)

Note that all Adobe OpenType fonts (excepting pi/symbol fonts) have the estimated symbol.
