(x) Christian Dior logo - based on Nicholas Cochin {Mark S}

Matthijs

Hi everyone@typophile,

I was asked recently by a good friend of mine to determine the typeface in 'christian Dior' (see attached image).

And I couldn't find it. I searched in my typefinder, and online but nowhere I could find it.

I've got the impression that it might be a recent design or custom made; But it is a beautiful face; notice the strange 'a'.

I found something that came nearby like 'cochin'&'sabon'.

Has anybody an idea who designed this font, or where to find it for purchase.

thanks!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if it were custom lettering, nor would I be surprised that Dior would be rather upset if you could buy it. However, contra the custom theory, it strikes me as somewhat odd that the spacing between the i and o in Dior seems a little dodgy.

Also, wdq154226: why are you gracing these discussions with links to Chinese manufacturers? Much as I love fiberglass, I don't see that it contributes much...

I've got a hunch that 'wdq154226' is a 'bot'.

@oldnick; thanks for your reaction. Can anyone confirm that the Dior-typeface is custom made? Or is there somewhere a typeface which can be bought?

thanks again!

This development's got me worried. We've been spam-free for how long?

The Christian Dior logo appears to be based on Nicholas Cochin. It's more refined, but otherwise very similar.
