Need specification document for TTF font..

Hi,

Where Can I get the specification document for True Type Font?

And we have an idea of writing a parser for the TTF file to get the font metrics information. Is it possible to write the parser for TTF file? Do we have any open source code for the TTF parser.

Can you please give me some information on this?
