As a last resort you could drop Peter Bilak or Robin Kinross a line, as they seem to be in the loop with respect to Karel Martens' activities.

19 November there is an presentation day in Arnhem. (It is in Dutch only)

http://www.artez.nl/actueel/agenda_item.cfm?id=828&od=1

I am planning to go, especially the Werkplaats Typografie. If I can do something for you, let me know?

Kind regards
Nicolien

I am going to the Open Day on the 15th of november. I hope it's worth it. Has anyone on this forum tried to apply to werkplaats typografie? Did you get in?

An acquaintance is presently studying there. I will direct him to this thread when next I see him in my Buddy List.

If someone could pass my info along or swap info that would be great...
I'm in Vancouver, Canada so attending the Open Day will be a bit hard

I will get all the information I can about application and fee. So, if needed I will start a new topic around the 16th of november.

Thanks a ton!!!

Is the Open day on the werkplaats Typografie on 15th November?
and not on 19th November?

Please, can you tell me, otherwise I am there on the wrong day?

TIA
Nicolien

Sorry I got it wrong. It's on the 19th of november. You're right Nicolien

Thanks!! I just called today for more information and they told me to visit the open day you can better make a seperate appointment because they are only available with a little stand and not much information.

Nicolien

When you say a separate appointement, do you mean on another day?

Yes, a seperate appointment on another day. The person on the telephone told me she could give me more and individual information about Werkplaats Typografie.

Greetings
Nicolien

Hello Kevin et al.,

I am a first year student at the Werkplaats Typografie
If you have any questions I would be most happy to answer them.

david@werkplaatstypografie.org
or / info@werkplaatstypografie.org and susanna should be able to help you.

Hey David,

Can you apply if you don't have a back ground in type design?

What kind of assignments do you get to do? I realise this is a broad question, maybe you can talk about what you're doing at the moment and tell us how it's going to be reviewed.

thanks

Hello Sebsan,

Yes you can apply if you don't have a background in type design. The participants have a broad range of backgrounds and interests. Not so specifically type design, but typographic design and a few with no formal design background at all. There seems to be a big emphasis on content and giving appropriate form to the content – whether it be self generated or given

At the moment my year are working on a 'reader' project which will eventuate in a book on the subject of biography

Also the WT is open to commision work, and every so often something comes in. For example a student here has just completed a series of stamps for the TPG Post. As for the review process, it is quite informal here, but we have an evaluation in december – so then I can tell you more!

Hope this helps,
David

Thanks David, that helps a lot. Now I need to get off my arse and fill an application form.

''Now I need to get off my arse and fill an application form.''

I realize it's slightly delayed response :) but did you eventually?

If you did, I'd be grateful for any information on how the process went. I know from your blog that you went to KABK and not to the WT finally, but you may have gone through some of the earlier stages of admission...

@ WRITINGDESIGNING

Have you been a student at werkplaats??!?!
I am planning to try to join the school next year..can you give me some info??

Thanks

Hello everybody, this is my first post in this forum...

I also would like to get some information about the program from some student. It looks really interesting...¿anyone there?

Thank you!
