Question for a project:
who is using helvetica in their business identity?
(its use in logos primarily)-
thanks!
Hey! Isn't that "Canvas" (Belgian TV) logo normally set in univers? I'm sure that the book is right, but I swear that's in Univers on TV.
Yves, help me out on this one!!!
Or is it another case of stupid flemish designers that still don't know the difference between Univers, Arial & Helvetica? Last time I saw it: the" Icons of Flemish Design" exhibition. Invitation was Univers, and the catalogue in Helvetica. Talkin' about being consequent...
it's a sad sad world
I think there was a discussion here a while back about what
typeface was used for the Microsoft logo.
Obviously, they use ITC Franklin Gothic extensively in the
corporate identity, but if you look closely at the logo, you
will see that it is not Franklin Gothic (ITC or otherwise). All
the obvious Franklin Gothic details (including Benguiat's
"keyhole") are absent. In fact, it looks as much like
Helvetica as Franklin Gothic, but not exactly like either.
It seems likely that it started out as one of those two, but
was redrawn and modified.

It was Univers originally, but they might have changed
it (it sure is Helvetica on their website now), Lettertyp.
I'll have to watch some telly to be able to confirm.
