Giovan Francesco Cresci

Eric_West

If anyone has any info / links / images on this guy,and his work/ much appreciated.

Also,

How about a Type History section in Special Interest Groups?

Find #1: http://www.english.cam.ac.uk/ceres/ehoc/billingsley/ (might need to dig a bit)

James Mosley has written about him as well in one of the Typo Papers.

Jon Coltz used to have a write-up on Cresci which included an image which I can longer get to load.

The Trajan column inscription was masterfully rendered thank to G.F. Cresci
and Luca Pacioli’s drawings. Cresci arrived in Rome from Milan on 1550;
six years later was nomined “Scriptor Latinus” of the Library, and on 1560,
keeping his appointment, calligrapher for the Cappella Sistina, the time
he publish is writing book “Il Perfetto Scrittore”.

AS
