Looking for a high quality script font (a la Zapfino)

Palatine

I've got a design job to do, and I'm looking for a very high quality script font, perhaps in the same spirit as Zapfino (if that qualifies as a script font, forgive my misuse of the lingo.) Something that would be appropriate for a diploma or academic certificate of sorts, but the more elegant and elaborate, the better.

Perhaps some of you would be kind enough to throw out a few names. Cost is not an issue at this point.

Thank you.

I think Veer currently has the script market cornered.

For a diploma I would take a traditional english script like Kuenstler script.

If you need some nice OypenType features and CE support too, you should try one of the Gracia fonts. :-)

i just did a search for formal script on myfonts.

Bickham Script Pro is currently used extensively and gives good results.

Thank you all for the kind responses!

I'm comparing a bunch of them. Avalon and Sloop are in the lead, for now.

oh, and since i'm the unofficial sales rep for Storm, I hafta point out their lovely script that's part of the Splendid Quartet Set.

Paul, your obligatory Storm plug just made my decision a bit more complicated. ;-)

Stephen: thanks for the link!

elegant – Poetica
or elaborate – Ayres Royal

If you like Zapfino, you should try Zapfino Extra LT Pro, an expanded version of Zapfino:
http://www.linotypefont.com/8-36-8-17885/zapfinoextra.html

It includes a load of OpemType contextual features that produce a lively script impression by automatically switching between different alternates in an intelligent manner. If you type the same word twice, you will get two different renderings! This works in all applications that support OpenType contextual features, e.g. Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS/CS2.

Regards,
Adam

Thank you kindly, Adam. Quite a nice set there.

and OPEMTYPE is OpenType with an OEM license embedded. ;^)
