I wish to ask for your help in identifying an new unknown.

The following link is to a new VIRAL marketing campaign site for the upcoming Microsoft Game Console.

There are surely very few instances in which the VIDEOGAME industry has done anything of typographical note;

however please take note of the COUNTDOWN CLOCK NUMERALS in the background of this page :

Might anyone be able to positively ID what typeface is in use ?

It's reminiscent of a classic form but updated with a polygonal composition.

Hmm. Seems to be modified version of Bauer Bodoni. Ball terminals removed, a serif removed here and there, roughen up with a filter, and you've got it.

BTW, that site makes me think of the first Cyan title, "The Manhole." (Same people who did "Myst.")

I'm thinking as the typeface is being used in a flash script it must be a FONT

rather than a treated version of BODONI . it certainly looks like it may be a variant

of BAUER BODONI; but I would suppose that is indeed a font.

Well, I did a sneaky thing: I downloaded the swf and imported it into Flash. Of course, it tells me the font is missing, but it does tell me the name: Magritte. No idea where it's from, though. It didn't show up in any of the major font vendor sites. Could be a custom font.

I hopped onto my PC and used the SOTHINK decompiler to as well dl the SWF .

I noticed the same thing . MAGRITTE . but I could find no trace of it online .

.

I was interested in seeing what the rest of the character set would look like

but unfortunately I may never now .
