Can anyone suggest a sans serif family that includes an especially thin weight...or two?
I've already found Interstate FB.
I won't use Avant Garde, so don't even tell me...
Him... think that Mr. de Groote is a specialist for very thin fonts. His TAZIII comes in 15 weights.

Here are mine:
Fontesque Sans Ultra Light
Preface Thin
Alphaville Thin
A serif and a script, both hairline:
I'm sure that this is for print application but note that on screen especially under ClearType (and clones) these fonts almost dissapear. In contrast under b/w rendering with drop-out control set you always have at least one pixel stems with even the thinest of thin font. Case in point Courier New on Mac OS (on Windows OS-level tricks are used to add bulk to the rendering)

My Proxima Nova has three--Thin, Condensed Thin, and Extra Condensed Thin.
Since we're all plugging our own stuff...
Apex Sans Extra Light is very thin indeed:

Our ClearviewOne has Extra Thin and Thin in three different widths. And will soon be available in OpenType.
Peter Bil’ak’s —Fedra Sans Display 1— looks so elegant and thin (even hairline!):

My own plug:
Mundo Sans Extra Light
Today Sans Extra Light (text)
Today Sans Extra Light (headline)
Did Jim start its life as hot metal?
When Jim spoke to the Toronto Type Club, he talked a bit about his process. And if i understood/remember correctly, Jim starts the fonts digitally, then cuts them into metal, making tweaks along the way. I believe this is one that he did put into lead, but I'm not for certain. Maybe Jim will show up and clear things up for us. >^p

whoops - just reread the original post... sorry.
Just finished a list of extra light fonts at the FontFeed.
Just found this on FontShop - I think it might be of interest, haha.
