Can we get a Typophile Widget for Mac OS X’s Dashboard? Would that not just totally rock? How much effort is needed to program a widget?
I’ve got 2 of these in the works at the current time. Both are fully functional but need a little design refinement.
1. Smalltalk generator. Remember this one? It spews out pretentious things to say at type conferences. I was hoping to release this before/at TypeCon but ended up being too busy running to and fro to get it out there.
2. Typophile RSS reader. This aggregates all feeds into one stream, but flip it over and you can set it to focus in one any particular group (General Discussions, wiki, etc)
What would be the killer widget? What does everyone want to see?
I don’t know anything about programming, but would kill me would be an RSS-reader type thing that showed which threads had just gotten comments.
Basically, the Typophile tracker page:
http://typophile.com/tracker
Then I wouldn’t have to keep refreshing my browser…
(I like to dream big.)
How about a Typographica widget? Or a FontShop widget.
I’ve already started pestering at Linotype about one…
a typographica widget is coming? i had no idea. need to stay on top of these things i guess, huh stephen? sorry for being such a flake. I’d love to see the flipable/focusable RSS reader that Jared described, and a smalltalk generator would be fun too. I’d also like to see all images posted to Typophile automatically added to a (private?) flickr account - all the stuff from Critique, for instance.
