(x) British GQ Magazine - Lexia, ITC Fenice (custom versions) {Fabio, Paul Ross}

skyrocket

Hello Typoguru's...
A client has asked me to ID two fonts from GQ magazine (UK). I picked them as Glypha light and Fenice ultra - but they're both not quite right. Can anyone here with better eyes and more knowledge of the UK mag scene pick these two...?

Glypha-GQmag1
Fenice-GQmag2

the bottom one appears to be Fat Face.

it's not Fat Face, but it maybe a custom take on Fat Face?

I think this slab-serif is the Pan, designed by Dalton Maag, see here:

Thanks Fabio but that link points to a PDF on the font Lexia.

i see that Yves is smart.

Paul, don't "waste" your time :-) if you want to know the typeface- find the art director..... his paper will pay good money for type.

Thanks all. I'm not wasting my time as a big magazine here in Australia wants to know the answer to this question. I hope I'm not wasting YOUR time then? I reckon you lot do these for fun and it's a great service for folks like me. Lexia looks correct doesn't it? Like I said before - this forum is the dogs bollux. TTFN...

The slab serif looks indeed like a lighter version
of Dalton Maag's Lexia, and the modern face is
a display version of ITC Fenice Ultra by Aldo
Novarese (well spotted Paul!).

GQ Magazine being one of the big ones, it is not
unthinkable that they use customized versions of
these typefaces.

Here's my response to that question. :-)
Don't worry, when I'm really busy, my reaction time
drops spectacularly, and I won't hesitate to tell you so.
