Newbie: Open PC Files with Mac

Hi,

What software do I need to buy in order to open PC files (mostly or only text. not graphic. Like Word etc.) And then to use the text with InDesign or Quark ???

Let's say If my aim is to design a book, catalog etc. ???

Isn't InDesign wonderful, it respects typography, Quark butchers it.

InDesign doesn't like word 2k or XP files...save them as Rich Text (.rtf) files or as Word97 files instead.

indesign open wordfiles easily. Nothing special to do, only to import the file, and it will come nice.
And in other cases, you need word to open a word file, and in the same way the mac version of the soft who produced the file you have. Simple.
