"fonts are clothing for words"

Who said "fonts are clothing for words"? Somebody famous? Cavanaugh says Beatrice Warde, but it doesn't very Wardesque to me.

I think it's Warde paraphrased. I think she said something like "the clothes they (words) wear". Trying to find where I saw it now.
