Easily remove "loops" in paths, in Fontlab 5

Is there an easy way to automatically correct paths where a loop has formed (i.e. path crosses over itself), as per attachment?

Merge Contours (Ctrl+F10) erases inside loops and breaks outside loops off so you can easily select and delete them.

Thanks so much for that KCP. Unfortunately, I cannot see where it "breaks outside loops off". That does not appear to be happening for me. I am using a Mac so not sure if that could be an issue.
