Liberty Valance

epiney

Hello,
could anyone identify this font, please?
It's from the John Ford's film "The man who shot Liberty Valance".

Thanks in advance!

Not a typeface, but hand lettering (as was most poster display type of the era).

The lettering appears to be based on an old woodtype style called Latin:

Some digital typefaces with a similar vibe (but by no means a match to your sample):

Ok, thank you very much for this useful information!

AFAIK nobody has made this lettering into a font.
The capital letters are fairly standard Roman letters with pulled out serifs. Fonts that include this feature include Ronaldson

The other letters are an unusual mix of roman letters with big ball terminals and sloped letters. For some ideas see Everafter Bold

I was able to find a higher resolution image of the letters and edit it to remove the shadow effect

If we ignore the rugged edge effect, are there any more suggestions as to substitutes for all or portions of the lettering?
