Another sample, though not sure they are all the same font.

Didn’t find any exact matches, only similar typefaces:

http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontmesa/country-western/ [Open]

If your sample predates the 1980s, there may not be a digital equivalent....

This some variation of Clarendon, which resembles the Egyptian [once known as Antique] but has bracketed rather than rectangular [slab] serifs.
Not an abundance of this style with height to width proportions similar to your image.
Consider:

Consort ExtraBold CondensedRR

CA Normal Serif Extra Bold

BTW I concur in the suggestion of Country Western as a narrow Clarendon design, with the added feature of a shadow.

Great suggestions! Thank you kthomps5 and donshottype. I agree with you both that Font Mesa's Country Western Open is possibly the best match I'll find. I am beginning to think it is actually a true letterpress font.
But all of your suggestions are truly appreciated. Find-My-Font did not suggest CA Normal Serif Extra Bold or Consort ExtraBold CondensedRR.
