Swirl that Bookman! SAX 2582 Cover-Font

cartouche

another mornin' - another show!

it's not that i am suddenly turned lazy - it's just that i need an expert eye…
…but see for yourself:

i would say the top headline is a bookman font; the one closest is bookmania semi.
i cannot however find the fitting swashy letters.
bottom line looks more like a condensed bookman, also with swashes - pls note the steep capital_r; the stroke of the top swashes is going a bit upwards (just as in above line)

cover made in gb '65

(resource probably a scan with minimal distortion)

good luck!

Confirming Bookman. Quoting MF description text: "Bookmania (2011) is a revival of Bookman Oldstyle (1901) and the Bookmans of the 1960s, but with all the features you would expect in a modern digital font family." Don't know any other version of Bookman available with such an amount of alternate glyphs: /B, /k, /r, /y and /A for your sample
Baseline is also Bookman. My suggestion would probably to keep Bookmania scaling it to match the lettering using /K, /N, /P and /R alternate glyphs.

a bit embarrassed.
when looking for the right font, i started with itc bookman which has listed swashed letters as an extra font. so when i moved on to others and finally the most matching: bookmania, i didn't check the glyph-catalogue but supposed that swashed letter would be extra as well!…

bookmania is the closest digitized even though swashes are a bit off… needs a bit of tweaking and PS.
the original font i suppose will remain unknown?!

as a little atonement: a typophil picture-riddle
where's the (hilarious) mistake in below hmv cover?

enjoy!

the original font i suppose will remain unknown?

You could perhaps try to contact Mark Simonson, who could have stumbled on this specific cut during his research on Bookmania.
As for the joke, I don't understand what you're talking about, Vach's Mass in V minor is a classic.

the original font i suppose will remain unknown?!

No. As we said, this is Bookman but from the pre-digital era thus the differences.

Vell, Vhat's Vrong Vith Vach? Vunderbar!
