Seeking font similar to one in attached image (mid-18th century, Spain)

luvtype

Hi,

What font would be similar to the handwritten, bold, all-caps type with caps in the attached image -- I'm referring to the one line on top, and 2 lines of it more or less in the middle? The type is from a mid-18th century Spanish manuscript.

For a special event, I'm doing a poster that will feature this image, and I would like to use a similar font for the headline. I would love to find a font that retains some of the fluidity of this handwritten type.

I'd be most grateful if anyone could suggest font(s) that come closest to this historical type.

Thanks in advance!

For an one-off job, you could like Bodedo (http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/HVD-Bodedo), or something “piratesque” (http://www.moorstation.org/typoasis/pirates/).

Also, here you could find something: http://www.myfonts.com/search/hand+serif/

Thanks for these helpful suggestions.
Much appreciated!

Here's one that could perhaps be better than the other suggestions at capturing the flavor of the handwritten bold letters in your 18th century Spanish Map. It's based on the handlettered titles, captions and place labels in Henri Abraham Chatelain’s Atlas Historique. Brian Wilson's Antiquarian http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/3ip/antiquarian/

Nice find, Don!

Thanks Riccardo. It never rains but it pours. Another, not quite as close, but that would also work Windlass http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/scriptorium/windlass/

Adding two more, less historically accurate, with more handdrawn flavour:
