Jamie Oliver – Comfort Food – Layered 3D Type

fourcolourblack

Hi all,

This is driving me a bit nuts. There's a great 3D/layered font in the new Jamie Oliver book 'Comfort Food' that isn't listed at the front of the book. Its looks pretty damn similar to Industry Inc but I can see the M is slightly different. The inline stroke in the book touches the bottom of the letter, in Industry Inc it stops short. Amongst other things, its a different font of course.

Any ideas?

thanks,

For a minute, I thought it might be Politica by Sudtipos, but the S is off (good sloped-sided M, though).

Still looking.....

Can't be 100% positive but could be UT Player, inline type treatment included.

Good call, Ryuk.

The GORGEOUS above GADO GADO appears to be Trend Slab, for what it's worth:

Sorry I should have mentioned that, I knew (and own) Trend.

UT Player is close, but its still not exactly the same.

Its not Prismatic either

Which aspects of UT Player are giving you pause, 4CB, if I may ask?

I don't know how you could state so easily it's not Player because I don't see any earmark that could contradict it: /M with sloppy verticals, /S straight oblique transition, low counter /R, /M inline vertex lower position, /K diagonals connecting to vertical via horizontal bar...

I'm guessing that "my friend James" is James Verity of Superfantastic:

Ah sorry guys, you are right. Most certainly is Player. Based on how much the Player 3D stripes is used through this book, it'd have to be part of a typeface to make life easier. That, or set all the headline and constantly outline and paste in diagonal lines.

Much obliged guys!

We type geeks can get a bit overzealous--didn't mean to gang up on you, just curious about the typeface.

I've several of Jamie's other cookbooks, so thanks for bringing this one--and Superfantastic--to my attention. And thanks, Ryuk, for introducing me to yet another interesting type foundry.
