Looking for script and serif for late-1800s historical novel

sandrajonas

I'm designing a cover for a historical novel about Mary Todd Lincoln that begins after the Civil War (1865) and ends in 1880. I'm searching for a script and companion serif for the title/subtitle that suggests that period. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!
Sandra

Excellent suggestion. Thanks!

Scotch Modern is a polished facsimile of one of the better examples of the dominant American text style of that era. Whether or not it suggests that period is another matter.

You could thicken the script for impact.

Thank you, Nick and Don. All good options.

Forgot to mention the psychological subtext of the hairline shadow behind the bold Tuscan. It echos the fine lines of the script and hints that she is living in his shadow.
