Does anyone know which script typeface was used for the word 'The' on this logo? It's possible it's custom but Anagrama seems to mostly base their logos off existing typefaces.

The closest I've been able to find is Sterling Script and it's really not all that close. Is there anyone on this forum with a keen eye for script identification?
Tylor, while Anagrama may be known for basing their logos on actual fonts, there is the possibility that this was hand-drawn or a custom font by local designer, and not commercially available.
The folks on this board are fairly perspicacious--if anyone had recognized it straight off, they'd have spoken up.
I've scanned through all 1000+ calligraphic scripts on Myfonts, and no match. Also no match to the 140+ fonts that supposedly include "tail" ornaments in their character sets. The following two fonts, however, may be closer to the feel of the original than Metroscript:

I agree Johan that it's probably a catchword. Previous thread http://typophile.com/node/108085 on _The_.
There are various catchwords in the the fonts at http://www.myfonts.com/search/tag%3Acatchwords/fonts/ but a quick skim through did not spot a match.

There are many more in the image results for a Google Search of "fonts catchwords" and some digging through the results might match your _The_.

If it is sufficient to recreate the word _The_, then use the _Th_ ligature and _e_ from Gelato Script http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/schizotype/gelato-script/ add a swoosh from another font like Casey [it's at the summation sign Unicode: U+2211 (∑)] http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontbureau/casey/ combine into a single glyph, rotate the new catchword glyph left 20 or 30 degrees, and edit any details you may wish to adjust for a closer match to your _The_.
