Your Favourite Digital Foundries?

¶ Find the ritual question concerning the foundries that you admire and purchase from.

Back in the 1990's, the first foundry that I was hooked on was
House Industries.
I discovered it by reading a newspaper in which I noticed House Gothic.

Let's hear from you…

I don’t licence fonts any more, but I used to.
I was impressed with FontFont back in the day (c.1990), in particular the classic vibe of their black + PMS 115 direct mail flyers and brochures.
So, no surprise that they published my first digital type design, in 1994.

I can't think of another foundry as culturally significant as Monokrom.

to Nick: why did you stop?
to Hrant: could you explain more why Monokrom is culturally significant.
thanks!

They make highly usable fonts that bravely introduce new –or rare– ideas. Virtually all foundries are highly formulaic.

Why did I stop what?

licensing your fonts?

I meant license from others, as in the OP’s “…purchase [licences] from…”, not licence to.

So I have changed from licensing fonts from others, which I did in the early days of digital, when I was working as an art director and graphic designer, to licensing fonts to others, since I have been publishing fonts full time.
