Indeed the easier it is to get a font the harder it is to stand out from the crowd.

I'm confused. You mean she should climb K2 (too many have climbed Everest) and see if there's a font lying around at the top?

Or maybe just use a really expensive font, 'cause very few will have bought it? Or perhaps an ugly one because most will pass it by?

And she should do this because you mean if she picks the right font, she doesn't have to write anything at all on the blog, the important part is already done?

In short, I'm confused how this advise helps.

It's pretty simple. A font isn't just about readability, it expresses things; and what it expresses depends not only on what it looks like, but also what it's been used for. A great example is Trajan: one might expect it to convey Ancient Rome, but it really mostly makes people think of Hollywood movie posters, Victoria's Secret, etc. It's much worse with Helvetica: it has said so much about so many things that it no longer says anything. Neither of those typefaces are free. On the other hand it's not rocket science that something that costs more than something else is generally more rare, hence generally more focused. Exceptions? Duh.

But deep down you already know all this. It's that the chip on your shoulder has gotten so big it's affecting your hearing.

And she should do this because you mean if she picks the right font, she doesn't have to write anything at all on the blog, the important part is already done?

I'm not stupid enough to have said that. And you're not stupid enough to believe I said that. On the other hand thinking that this place needs to be about more than just typography is stupid.

No, @charles, @hrant merely opines that price grants exclusivity. It very often does, but is not guaranteed to.

I'm tempted to suggest Studio Di Lena as font supplier, my beady eye leaning on Nova Semplicità and Lello. IIRC, they only cost a name drop.

@Te Rowan thank you for actually providing an answer to my question ;) Did you guys (@hrant or @charles) have any suggestions on what you think might match well??

As an aside, the face I use as default serif in the browser is PT Serif, simply because I can read it well. I have never checked, though, how well it goes with Semplicità.

Dana, is your logo final?
What kind of fashion/lifestyle do you deal with?
What kinds of photos/illustrations to you use?
How text-heavy is it?

Logo can change but I am really quite fond of it. I have a lot of street style posts with an urban feel. I also post about high fashion/runway and also decor.

It's not too serious mostly casual writing style, fun but still edgy.

You can check out my site if you want to see what I'm working with :) the coding and set up is not quite there yet but you can get the idea...

Your logo is basically handwriting or, in the pre-Y2K days "signage," so the real question is whether you want to continue that theme, or use something that really does suggest "type," with all its traditional regularity.

The one thought I had was the logo is, as you say, a touch edgy. Alegreya is a touch edgy, esp. in the bold, but likely too pretty for your use. So, I just Googled edgy fonts...

With either path, some of those might suggest something worth exploring...

Dana. Forgive me for suggesting my own typeface, but I think Vinter looks very much at home here.

Looks like the nav is artificially bold, but the top is right.

Now I'm thinking of this:

I know the logo font isn't really for everyone but I think I'm gonna stick with it for now. Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

Frode, I love your font!! I think its a great match unfortunately I don't have any extra capital to purchase it :( thanks for chiming in!
