Not really sure how else to classify it; it looks custom to me.

Any thoughts? Even what it may be customized from?

Hard to say... Many fonts look pretty close without perfectly matching... Some of them: B-52 (possibly the closest), Old Block, USN Stencil

B-52 looks really close. A few customizations (the D overhang, the short middle E, the seemingly smushed M..) might do it..
