Paid Membership

I was going through the forums (which I love) and came upon the paid memembership part. I would love to become a paid member but I'm not an expert on fonts. Never created a font and have no idea where to even start making a font. I just enjoy the beauty of what can be done with fonts. I've learned a lot by going through the forums. If i do become a paid member would other paid members take offense?

Bella

Bella, you will not be the only one. Feel welcome in everything. We are all lovers of type here, but not all creators.

Offense, no, but do we have a particularly secret and demanding initiation ritual, involving molten lead, a dagger, and the consumption of a lethal bezier cocktail...

Come on, this isn't some snotty club! I for one would love to have you as a fellow member - "enjoy[ing] what can be done with fonts" is plenty good enough!

hhp

Forget type. Some of us are just lovers.

M.

be careful though. hrant's a lover and a fighter. ;)

He must be half Irish then.

M.

In fact I will never lose my dark love for the mobile Katyusha battery.

hhp

Hmm, a private club for 'lovers' to 'enjoy what can be done with fonts': sounds pretty perverted to me. I'm sure that many of the things that go on in such a club are illegal in the state of Georgia.

Give it a try, John. You won't be disappointed.

M.

In fact I will never lose my dark love for the mobile Katyusha battery.

You should join the Belfast branch of the Katyusha fan club.

M.

*laugh* Thanks guys! I will definitely sign up for the membership.

B.

ps.... and i'm slightly afraid of what i just got myself into

You have to sign in blood but don't worry, it's only a little prick.

Welcome aboard

M.

Excellent. We need more girls!

Always a good plan, that.

M

I hope not. And Paul McCartney is out of the question.

M.

Thankies Joseph :-)

Dr Strangedarklove

Abu Sharmoota,
If I make a list of a half a dozen specific people and you aim it on them, I would do that gladly!

Seriously: I don't condone killing, and I've never done it myself (mostly because I was luckily to avoid being in that position). But my attraction to certain machines of war* is there - you might catch the bug too if you ever find yourself growing up smack dab in the middle of a 17-year war. I don't try to reconcile (or even explain) all my feelings, but the fact that I admit to them puts me on a higher level than denial-junkies engaging in criminal voting.

* Like the mangonel.

And remember Gill? He hated Industry, but he couldn't help but love trains.
Humans are strange, and I'm stranger than average. Who/what are you?
A saint? If you are, don't show your face around me.

hhp

Don't get me started on mangonels, Hrant. One of my own secret passions and something I would most definitely like to be fired out of. If it works for Robin Hood, it'll work for me.

M.

Mind you, he was a bit of a skinny kid.

Catholic guilt is kicking up! As soon as my clients freakin' pay up, I'll be donating (and right now, my very internet connection is at stake)... there are so many sites I would love to contribute to, to ensure their existance... god, do I miss the "bubble" days...

but, oh, yeah, do I ever have a full appreciation for the time and expense that goes into a site such as this one. In the meantime, thank you for the knowledge!

You have to sign in blood but don't worry, it's only a little prick.

Oh great! Now it's a private club for 'lovers' with 'little pricks' to 'enjoy what can be done with fonts'. This just gets seedier and seedier. And Hrant's brought Eric Gill into it, so the dogs and the sheep can't be far behind. I need to get out of here in a hurry... where did I put my trebuchet?

Jared, be thankful you don't live in Wales where, in 2000, angry residents vandalised the home of a pediatrician.

*wiping tears away* you guys are too funny!

Oh great! Now it's a private club for 'lovers' with 'little pricks' to 'enjoy what can be done with fonts'. This just gets seedier and seedier...

After a hard day at work, it just comes pouring out, John. Seedy as a garden centre.
And what, after all, is language for, Jared?

M.

And now that I think of it, Joyce and Beckett had great fun with the word 'prick' too. Mind you, they were seedy as old potatoes, the pair of them.

As long as this thread is already wallowing in the gutter

:->
Well, male prostitution is severely neglected.

As long as this thread is already wallowing in the gutter...

I wouldn't go that far. Unless there's something funny going on in your gutter that you want to tell us about. I've got a lot of pigeon poo in mine.

Well, male prostitution is severely neglected.

Don't do it Hrant!! Shakira will be heartbroken.

Huh? Shakira is my pimp!

hhp

That would explain this then

hhp

Matha

Double post

Excellent. We need more girls!

pediatrician...

Dangerous bastards. Burn em all!!

"pediatrician would be someone who looks after your feet."

David, in the U.S. of A. we call foot doctors podiatrists and baby doctors pediatricians.

I'm sure no one would take offense. You'll find a whole spectrum of knowledge/talent here. Besides, the whole goal of the paid membership is to contribute to keeping Typophile online - so if you have found the site useful, contribute and we'll send you some cool Thank You gifts, including the Typophile tee.

Does that make Matha = Michael Jackson?

Welcome Bella. With a username like neuroticlilone you'll fit right in.

>In fact I will never lose my dark love for the mobile Katyusha battery.

Find one and strap yourself to it.

Personally, I have little tolerance for jokes of this kind, but I guess I should have thought of that before naming a site with "ophile" in the name. I could retire now if I had a dollar for every time someone said, "What, like pedophile?" when I tell them the domain name. :sigh:

Paediatrician - pediatrician would be someone who looks after your feet.
