70s sans — estate signage from the Heygate, Elephant and Castle

Matthew Appleton

Hello - keen to find out more about this odd bit of sans signage from a soon-to-be-demolished estate in South London…
Note the curved foot on the 'R' and squished 'g'!

thanks as ever for your time and knowledge!

pretty close to the old 'Rail Alphabet', but not quite… any clues out there…?

Can't name the original unfortunately. But may be playing with Chalet London/New York 1980 might do the trick for you. Overall design looks pretty close and it has also all earmarks you're after: /R slightly curved foot, /r curvy terminal and 'squished' /g.

thanks - -Chalet not bad but still not quite there
