Old RCA tube box logo

fausto

Hi,

Please help me identify the font at the RCA logo on the picture - the one in the circle with a lightning bolt. It's an old font from a tube box, probably there's not a present-time correspondence.

Are there any current similar fonts I could use in a logo design?

Thank you for your help.

Image of RCA's 1919 ca. logo suitable for scanning & vectorization for font making:

Hand lettering in the style of the times.
No matching font but the style is somewhat similar to Windsor bold. Leg on R similar to Cloister Bold and Cromwell NF.

Can't name it and doubt actually it could be a font. Anyway, this logo is freely available to download as vector here.
Some loosely similars: Italia, Bookman, Barcelona

The vector show a recent redesign and does not match the original logo.

I was curious how this 1919 lettering would look if it was made into a set of Initial Caps. Sort of like a swash version of Cooper Black. All tips are rounded. There are no vertical or horizontal lines. No straight lines, except the mid portion of the lightning flash. Beautiful evocation of the era. Very different from the fonts we suggested as somewhat similar. Here is the result of the experiment.

Rather time consuming to make the letters properly. No point in doing it without a client.

Thank you guys for your help.

You're welcome. Good luck with your logo.
