The Cognitive Side of Typography

Stefan Miklos

Hello,

How do you define the cognitive side of typography and history of typography?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I don't, usually. Cognitive as opposed to what?

Well, we did have a thread here about a paper claiming that less-readable typography actually helped people understand what they were reading, because it forced them to slow down and think about it.

Which is probably why we don't deal much with the cognitive side of typography here. It's just to aesthetically depressing.

I would start with issue #13 of Typo magazine.
