Why does it have to be a Google font?

Gotham is a Rolls Royce, Google fonts are the Yugo of type design. Do you even realize how hard it is to not poke fun of your request here…

Although admittedly unlikely, there might be an attenuating factor we don't know about, so I'd personally rather give Denis the benefit of the doubt, and wait for a reply to my question.

BTW, I wouldn't equate Gotham with a Rolls Royce, because not everybody drives a Rolls Royce...

Lobster looks great to me.

Seriously though why don't you just try a bunch out, they're flippin free!

"Gotham is a Rolls Royce, Google fonts are the Yugo of type design. Do you even realize how hard it is to not poke fun of your request here…"

That made my day!

Okay, I'm already looking for other web-font alternatives...

Why does it have to be a Google font?

It was requested by a programmer. But I doubt he will mind if I find the alternative web font.

Good to know.
Is there a budget?

hhp

“extremes meet”, “everything is dual”, or the principle of polarity :)

Now, seriously, just ask H&FJ to be part of the web-fonts beta testers.
If not possible, Merriweather Sans may work, just give it a try

Couple comments. There was a thread where it was stated that H&FJ fionts are't quite optimized for the web, yet. Don't know if this applies to Gotham or not.

If you want to use the "Rolls-Royce comparison, OK, but only if it is the Top Gear (UK) evaluation of Rolls. You could use Cadillac too, if you'd hold it to 1973 Caddy. (I had one. Some pluses, some minuses.)

Y'all seem to belong to the "Just cut out an Armani label & stitch it to your Walmart jeans" group...

Whenever Whitney Book becomes available as a web font, that's your best buy.

What applies to all H&FJ fonts can be found on their site (that is their FAQ number 21):

What kinds of web typography does my license allow?

Here you go, a nice geometric sans ready for the web

The desktop version came free with registering InDesign 4 or 5.5 (don't remember just which).

Hypatia Sans does seem like a good choice... even if you have to pay for it! :-)

The go-to-font for wannabe-Obamas is of course Proxima Nova on Typekit. (Note that Proxima was released before Gotham.) Or Avenir.

Okay people, I've chosen the Gotham Light as display typeface and Hypatia as body typeface. Thank you all!

H&FJ launched their webfont service since yesterday

Thank you Sevag
