Super compressed sans from classic SILENCE=DEATH poster

Matthew Appleton

Anyone know what this super-compressed sans is? Similar to Gill Display Compressed or as if someone had squeezed Futura Condensed...!
thanks as ever for your expertise and help!

I can only confirm what you've already found by yourself. Looks like gill sans extra condensed bold to me.

Gräfenberg

Yes, that is Gill Sans Extra Condensed Bold.

Matthew Appleton

You can see that if it is Gill, it has been heavily compressed further, and even then it isn't exactly the same as Gill. So perhaps edited/squashed Gill rather than another font?

Jan Erdmann

Dude, you have to look at what people tell you to look at.

Matthew Appleton

Jan, I stand corrected — my font actually called Display Compressed...

thanks!
